Welcome Students and Parents of Division 7!

I hope that this will be a place where we can better open the lines of communication between myself, the students and the parents/guardians. I also hope to use this space as part of my general encouragement to use various forms of technology to help us learn in different and meaningful ways.

Summer Post

Ok...I did it...and I've been playing it...and it is pretty fun. I can admit that.

Jonny gets a real kick out of it. He loves hunting for "Poke-Monsters" and trapping them in "eggs." We catch them at parks usually, so we get to mix up playing the game, with playing on a playground or in a park. Win-Win. I'm currently level 13 and have caught 42 different Pokemon. I actually knew a bunch of the Pokemon I was catching hanks to all of your explanations during that art project - so thank you for that!

My whole summer has not been Pokemon. I go swimming with the kids regularly. We have our vegetable garden in full bloom. We've been camping once and are going again soon. We might possibly head to Edmonton for a week in August as well and have plans for the PNE, Jonny's birthday, Splashdown Park and going to a Vancouver Canadians game. Summer is nearly half over and there is so much still to do! AHHH!

The start of summer

First, I wanted to thank you all again for a great year. A special thanks for all of the wonderful gifts that I received on the last day of school. I have started drinking tea more regularly, have changed things over to my new wallet, and have been playing with some new toys. I still need to go shopping and am also working on where to place my new pieces of wall art (Jonny and Zack seem to think they should go in their rooms...) I'll try to remember to keep you posted on where they end up.

Well, the summer break seems official now. At first it felt sort of like a long weekend. Now that it is Tuesday, it feels more real. Things are busy over in Mr. Martin-land. Both of my boys are doing swimming lessons in the mornings and we are currently in the process of replacing all of our windows and our patio door. My best friend gets married on Sunday, where I will be the best man and Jonny will be the ring bearer. Good to have things on the go, but doesn't feel like a restful break yet. Maybe once some of the work I need to do dies down. We have some camping trips planned and are thinking of heading to Edmonton to visit my wife's grandparents at some point this summer. What plans do you guys have? Let me know in the comments (or just let me know that people have seen this and are checking the website)

;)
