It looks like we have a week left until back to school - for me anyway. It seems you have all been given an extra 2 days of summer, while teachers head back to learn about health and safety protocol. Hopefully you are all able to squeeze a little fun out of the remaining bits of summer vacation before you are all "officially" grade 5s! Summer has been interesting here. A lot of hanging around the house. We went camping for a few days in Penticton, which was nice. Hot, but nice. We swam in the lake a lot, which definitely helped with the heat. Both of my sons played baseball this summer. Between the two of them, I felt like I was at a baseball diamond 5 times a week. It was still nice to get outside and have them doing something - and baseball seems to be the most socially distanced outside sport there is. Win-Win. We did the drive-thru PNE, went to the outdoor swimming pool, celebrated Jon's 8th birthday, went on lots of walks and played lots of sports. Also got to watch sports - NHL playoffs in the summer is a neat idea! We had some bigger plans that had to be cancelled, but I think we made the best of it. I hope all of you did as well! Enjoy your last week and a bit and I will see you back at Mackenzie soon. |

Welcome Students and Parents of Division 7!
I hope that this will be a place where we can better open the lines of communication between myself, the students and the parents/guardians. I also hope to use this space as part of my general encouragement to use various forms of technology to help us learn in different and meaningful ways.
