This week, Division 11 participated in the Hour of Code. We had done some coding previously in the term, but this week, we joined over a million people world wide in participating in some form of coding/computer science over the course of this specific week. We explored a Minecraft universe where the students could use Blockly to help direct characters to do certain things using simple coding commands. We focused on basic movement directions, such as moving forward and turning, and later went further to explore repeat commands and if/but commands. The students had a lot of fun mastering their skills before meeting up with the grade 2 students in Ms. Trister's class to teach them how to code using the same program. It was a fun and educational time.
